Built to the standard
of a sea that never forgives

Salt water is the most corrosive environment on earth. Every sign that leaves our workshop has been built, finished, and tested to survive it — indefinitely.

Materials

Three materials. Each chosen
for a reason.

We don't offer a catalogue of options padded out to look impressive. Every material we stock has earned its place by surviving what the sea throws at it.

Stainless Steel material slab
316L Stainless
01

316L Stainless Steel

Marine-grade 316L — the "L" is critical. It denotes low carbon content (≤0.03%), which prevents carbide precipitation along grain boundaries. The molybdenum content (2–3%) pushes the pitting resistance index above 25 — the minimum threshold for marine chloride environments.

Our steel carries a Mill Certificate with each batch confirming composition. We don't accept "stainless" without documentation. Neither should you.

Alloy316L (Fe 62%, Cr 17%, Ni 12%, Mo 2.5%, C ≤0.03%)
PRE Rating>25 (salt-water rated)

Naval Brass material slab
C46400 Naval Brass
02

Naval Brass

C46400 naval brass — the same alloy specified for marine propeller shafts and through-hull fittings. The "naval" designation means it contains tin (0.75–1.25%), which suppresses dezincification — the process by which ordinary brass loses zinc ions in salt water, becomes porous, and ultimately fails.

Our brass arrives as flat stock, is sheared to blank, CNC-routed, then passed to our finishing team who cold-work the surface through four progressively finer grits before buffing to a mirror.

AlloyC46400 (Cu 60%, Zn 39.25%, Sn 0.75%)
DezincificationResistant — Class 1 per ISO 6509
Tensile Strength385–620 MPa
Finish OptionsMirror Polish · Brushed Satin · Rose Gold
Acrylic with LED material slab
Cast PMMA + IP68 LED
03

Premium Acrylic
+ RGB LED

Cast sheet (not extruded) — significantly better optical clarity, surface hardness, and UV stability. UV stabilisers dosed for a ten-year no-yellowing guarantee under direct sun exposure, tested to QUV-A accelerated weathering standard.

The LED strip is IP68 — fully submersible. We machine a recessed channel so the strip sits flush and protected. Light disperses evenly through the material using the same edge-lit principle as high-end display panels. No hot spots. No visible source.

Production

From order to marina

Seven working days. Here's exactly what happens — not in vague marketing language, but in the actual sequence of operations.

1
Within 24 hours
Design Proof
A vectorised proof lands in your inbox. Exact lettering, correct scale, correct finish rendered. Approve or request changes — no limit, no charge.
2
Day 2
Material Prep
Sheet stock is sheared to blank. CNC program is generated from the approved vector. Toolpath is dry-run before any cutting begins.
3
Day 3
CNC Routing
24,000 RPM spindle, flood-cooled on metal. Climb-milling on the final pass gives a burr-free edge. Carbide tooling changed every 80 hours. ±0.1mm tolerance.
4
Day 4–5
Hand Polish
320 grit to remove machining marks. 600 to establish grain direction. 1200 to refine. Cotton wheel with compound to finish. ~20 minutes per sign, by hand, every time.
5
Day 5 (LED orders)
LED Wiring
Strip tested at full current for 2 hours before potting in marine epoxy. IP68-rated connector pre-wired with tinned cable. Tested again after potting.
6
Day 6
Inspection
Every sign photographed under raking light — the harshest way to reveal micro-scratches. Doesn't pass: re-polished from scratch. Not reworked. From scratch.
7
Day 7
Packed & Shipped
Foam-wrapped, double-wall corrugated, rigid corner protection. Drill template, stainless fixings, marine silicone included. Tracking number sent when label prints.
Every order
Installation Kit
1:1 paper drill template. Illustrated installation guide. 316 stainless stand-off fixings. Marine silicone compound. No upsell. No extra charge.

Craftsmanship

Why the difference
is visible

Most signs are cut at speed, left unfinished, and shipped. Ours aren't. The photos say the rest.

YachtSignShop
Mirror-polished stainless C
4-grit hand polish · mirror finish
4-Grit Hand Polish
180, 320, 600 and 1200 grit before buffing. Mirror finish with no swirl marks, no tool lines.
Clean Edges, ±0.1mm
5-axis CNC from solid 316L. Crisp contours, no burrs, no witness marks from secondary tooling.
Polished S letter
Brushed satin finish · uniform depth
316L Marine Grade Alloy
Molybdenum-bearing stainless — same spec as offshore cleats. Immune to chloride pitting. Built to outlast the hull.
Uniform Depth & Profile
Every letter machined to identical depth. Top faces level, side walls vertical, corners sharp throughout.
vs
Typical Competitors
Rough machine-finish C
Machine-only finish · tool marks visible
Machine-Only Finish
Faces left at the CNC finish pass — visible tool paths across curved surfaces. No hand finishing.
Burrs & Rough Edges
Edges not deburred after cutting. Tool entry marks at corners. Undersides left rough with casting lines.
Rough unpolished S
Unpolished surface · rust risk within 2 seasons
304 or Unknown Alloy
"Generic stainless" — no grade specified. 304 lacks the molybdenum that resists saltwater. Rusts within 1–2 seasons.
Inconsistent Depth
Letters vary in depth due to worn tooling. The assembled sign looks uneven when sunlight hits from an angle.

The 3-Year Finish Guarantee

Every sign leaves our workshop with a full three-year guarantee against corrosion, pitting, delamination, or finish failure. If it fails due to materials or workmanship within that window, we remake it at no cost. No inspection. No claim form. No negotiation. You tell us it failed; we make you a new one.

Three years is a meaningful commitment on a product that lives in saltwater. We can make it because we specify materials that are engineered to last far longer — the same 316L and C46400 alloys used in offshore hardware that nobody replaces after three seasons. The guarantee is the floor, not the ceiling.

Order With Confidence

Covers materials and workmanship for 3 years from date of delivery. Excludes physical damage, incorrect installation, or use outside marine environments.

From the Water

What owners say after
two years at sea

★★★★★

Three seasons of salt water, sun, and wake wash. The mirror polish on the brass looks exactly as it did when I bolted it on. I expected to be re-polishing annually. I haven't touched it.

The drill template made the install foolproof — two hours including lunch. The stand-offs are beefier than anything I could have sourced locally. Looks factory, better than factory.

I ordered the LED acrylic for night visibility in the marina. The edge-lit effect is extraordinary — clean, even, no visible strip. Three other slip holders have ordered since they saw it.
